Lafayette Pet Stores, Shelters, Dog Parks & More

Pet stores Lafayette dog parks grooming animal shelter

Today we want to fill you in on everything we know about pets in Lafayette. You all are probably not here searching for the same things but either way there should be plenty of info available to help you plan your next move.

We think the best way to kick this off is to dive right into the best Lafayette pet stores. You can buy puppies, kittens, toys, food, and supplies and they are kind of like a one stop shop to handle most of your needs.

The top animal shelters for local dog or cat adoption will be up next. Dog parks, puppy trainers near you, and dog bakeries will garner our next three sections.

After that it will be time to discuss grooming and dog or cat cafes around the area. We can’t assume everyone reading this lives here so we will mention some good hotels that allow pets near you.

As we continue to move forward the best places for pet boarding in town will be discussed, and then some unfortunate topics like veterinarians and dog or cat cremation services will get you out of here. Be sure to check out the local map that can help you figure out which places are closest to your current area.

The Southeast is an area we have written many other guides for on our site if you are interested.

These great Lafayette pet stores are where to go if you want to buy a new puppy, kitten, toys, food, or any kind of supplies:

Pets Unlimited is a full-service pet store that is locally owned and operated. They provide a wide range of animals and supplies and have great customer service.

Animal Shelters & Adoption

Local pet adoption is handled through the Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center at 613 West Pont Des Mouton Road. Since launching the NoKill 2020 project in 2016, LASCC has increased adoptions, launched a trap-neuter-return program for cats, increased rescues, and reduced euthanasia rates.

The shelter’s save rate has grown from 52.88 percent in 2016 to a successful no kill saving rate of 90.3 percent in 2020. Community support, as well as collaborations with charitable organizations such as the Wildcat Foundation/SpayNation and Acadiana Animal Aid have been critical in achieving and sustaining no kill status.
